Chicago

This is a blog about 7th grade memories. I definitely thought that this year was fun, and a main part of it was Chicago. Chicago was an awesome 2 day trip, that everyone enjoyed and even the bus rides were fun.
Our trip started on May 3rd at 6:45 in the morning- everyone loaded the bus and we were off. The bus ride there was fun, yet the air conditioning was not working, so everyone was sweating like pigs. We were a little ahead of schedule, so we stopped at a gas station, where there was a walk- in refrigerator room. Everyone spent most of our break in there, and we cooled off.
From there we arrived at the Museum of Science and Industry. We waited in line for a bit, but then the group I was in, including Shae, Morgan, Kealy, and Lauren, went to the storm exhibit, in which I took many pictures. After that, the whole grade went to the Mythbusters exhibit where we go to test our own myths and see Isaac test one (which included dodging paintballs). Through out the day, we went to more exhibits, including: The Smart Home, Rocky Mountain Express, U-505 (a submarine), The You! Experience, and we got to see 4 baby chicks hatch, which only happens every 18 hours. Also, through out the day, The girls went into 2 photo booths. It was very hard to fit 5 girls in one booth.
Afterwords, we drove to our hotel, Homewood Suites, and settled in in our suites. The girls, specifically, took quick showers and cleaned up our stuff. Then we were off to Medieval Times, a place where there was a stadium and tables. We were fed a feast of soup, bread, roast chicken, ribs, potato wedges, and an apple pastry, and Pepsi, all of which were in big portions. We sat in the green section out of the red section, black and white, yellow, red and yellow, and blue. There was a tournament with knights of each color fighting. We were supposed to cheer for our knights, and we got into a yelling contest with the red section, especially when the green knight was dueling the red knight. We also got into screaming contests with the other part of our grade. The green knight made it far into the tournament, but was defeated by the red knight. The red and yellow knight won, and faced his enemy from another kingdom. That was probably my favorite part of the trip.
After the long day, we went back to our hotel. Morgan was accidentally left behind, when she came into the hotel room, we popped out and scared her. When we did this, Morgan fell on the ground and screamed. When this happened, a lady popped out of her room and screamed, "Shut up! I am calling the police!" We were all shaken by what happened, but we left the hotel fine.
In the morning, we all went to JPUSA (Jesus People USA) We learned about there community, which started in the 70's, where they live in an old fancy hotel, and welcome anyone they can with Jesus's love. We walked a little bit to their free store, and the girls helped people shopping. After this, I decided to join the boys, to help them in a place Alex nicknamed the Hole. The Hole is a stairwell where we through garbage bags full of clothing or other things up to each landing. It was a lot of fun at first, but then everyone started sweating, and the bags were wet with a liquid that smelled like vomit. So, because of this, I left and helped sort shoes. Then, Kealy and I went back to the Hole, where Mr. Roell told us to sing motivating songs walking up and down the stairs, starting with the seven dwarves song from Snow White. No one was motivated, so we went back to the shoes. After this, we left and washed our hands from all the vomit- liquid.
After JPUSA, we went to Navy Pier, where I got a chicago style hotdog, and then all the girls bought shirts. This very nice lady gave us four free ferris wheel tickets and Mrs. Byley bought us a fifth one. So the girls went on a ferris wheel for the first time. We were so high up, and we were freaking out (Morgan screamed so loud, the lady yelled up at her to stop), but as Kealy said, it was great bonding time.
After Navy Pier, we all went to our last stop, Shedd Aquarium, this may have been the least eventful site. All we did was look at exhibits, fill out our tour book, and eat some Dipping Dots. After we saw the jellyfish, though, a lot of us, including Me, Lauren, Jack S., Jack M., Jackson all got gigantic fluffy penguins. This action was motivated by Matthew buying one at Navy Pier, so everyone else bought one. I named my penguin Berk Pedro Javier Penguin Stanley.
Then, there was the bus ride home, which was not as hot and a lot of fun. That was basically a summary of our Chicago trip.

This is the only good picture on my camera that I could get on the bus with all the girls.
